Friends and Family,

This year I wasn’t really sure whether I wanted to continue my annual Friendsgiving tradition. Life was crazy, I was busy, and I didn’t feel up for it but I was reminded that I would look back and wish I had those memories and that person was right.

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone that was a part of this years Friendsgiving. Whether you helped set up, brought an amazing dish, beautiful flowers, and cards, or shared a laugh with me, I am truly grateful for each and every one of you. Every year I am reminded of how truly lucky I am to be surrounded by the most amazing friends and family.

Troopers,

It’s that time again where I update you all on my latest scans. As most of you know and saw, I recently had both a brain MRI and a PET.

Although I haven’t yet processed it all, I get a lot of questions that I prefer to answer all at once. It probably seems like my posts are like a rollercoaster. One day its positive, the next its not and that’s just the reality of my journey. Sometimes, its me taking one step forward, and others falling three steps back. So, with that being said…

My PET (which is my neck to thigh scan) came back clear, which is amazing. However, my brain MRI showed five new lesions. They are small, but I won’t lie, I’m aggravated that there are any new ones at all. Some of you will say that “there’s only five this time” and I get it, it has been worse but when you walk in my shoes, all you see is yet another obstacle. My faith is in question, I’m angry, and I fully understand that this is what I have to go through and these are the ups a downs of having to live with a cancer diagnosis but it sucks.

In the next few weeks I will be going in for a whole spine MRI and once again, gamma knife radiation session, for the fifth time. I’m trying my best to stay positive but those of you in similar situations as mine understand my frustration. It’s not fair.

So as always, I just ask you Troops to keep me in your prayers. 🙏🏼

Hey troopers,

Truth is, I’ve been emotionally struggling for the past few weeks, a lot more than the usual to be honest, especially these past few days alone. I’ve been battling some really dark thoughts lately, so I figured why not make a combined post about Mental Health Awareness Day, which recently passed and Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day, which is today. To me, they are one in the same.

I’m going to share with you all a little of how this diagnosis affects not only myself, but the loved ones around me as well.

Never have I allowed this metastatic diagnosis to define me, but truth is, it is a constant trigger.

So many lives have been taken away, far too soon, to this “incurable” deadly disease. We shouldn’t have to watch our friends die, we shouldn’t have to even question, who will be next. & it dam sure shouldn’t make us feel like a ticking time bomb.

I think about how unfair it is, how every time I look at my daughter with all the hope and faith in the world, there is still that fear within me, that I might not be there for her one day.

I hate thinking this way.

I hate that I had “that” talk with my husband about me not being here one day. Telling him what I would want for him and Ollie. I understand this is a conversation everyone should have, BUT, not at 32.

A Metastatic Breast Cancer diagnosis shouldn’t trigger someone to ask how much time they have left. We need to fight harder and do better so no one has to think this way. I ask that you all not only educate yourselves and your loved ones, but also advocate for the Metastatic Breast Cancer Community. WE, our community, ask that you be proactive and help the right organizations make a difference. Funding for MBC is scarce. If you’re someone who can donate, a great MBC organization is @metavivor.
